The downside of having two and a half weeks of doing nothing?
YOU END UP HAVING TO GO BACK TO WORK!!!!!!
Uggggh.. real life.
I really need to win the lottery or something, sure didn't make a million on the roulette table on the ship.
Well, getting back on track, big salads for lunch, big salads before dinner.
Nuts are killing me. $8 a pound, you go buy a couple pounds and a couple bags of frozen fruit, use it as an ice cream substitute, highly recommended, plus it lowers my body temp since the heat is killing me.
NEW TIP!
Don't drink ice water while you are eating, your body has to work to bring the temperature up before allowing it to pass from the stomach so it can really mess up your digestion, we want to slow it down, not stop it!
Check it out, there is a snore labs app, it records you at night so you can see if you snore.
You can play it back that way you can blame the noise on the spouse :)
I used it with my mandibular advancement device since I am supposed to move my jaw out until I stop snoring, but I don't know if I am snoring because I am asleep, got it? Good.
Anyways, at least it is working well enough that it is not waking up the family when we were sleeping in the same rooms.
I am looking for all these things that I am supposed to experience with weight loss: lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, lower triglycerides, reduced risk of diabetes, less skin eczema, and on and on and on.
I am not seeing it, but I do feel better. Genetics have a great deal to bear on it I believe, sometimes you just cannot beat mother nature.
Well as I said it took only 2 days of eating nothing but fast food and restaurant food to feel like crap.
I looked at my salad today, I really do eat a LOT of lettuce, I don't think I was getting nearly enough even on the ship where I was able to make and control the salad.
I did feel better a few days on the ship but not great.
It is really taking probably the same amount of time to recover as when I started the diet.
So keep that in mind, LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!
Psyllium husks might be a handy addition when eating on the run, drink a couple glasses a day to help keep you regular, keeping yourself regular will help you feel better I believe.
The better I feel the more frequently and less effort I have when visiting the bathroom.
I also think I was dehydrated most of the time being gone as well.
I don't drink a lot when travelling since you never know when or where the next potty may be.
Same in the hotel, there was not a lot of good drinking water there.
The cruise ship I did better but not great, I ended up drinking more coffee, it was delicious and always hot and available.
At our resort stay at the end we bought 2 gallons of water since the sink tasted funny.
This lasted 4 people for 4 days, not good. I just brought home an empty gallon from work two days in a row, so re-hydration is commencing.
The combination of food, heat, exhaustion is betting me up on the MS side of things, but I will not be defeated!!!
Onward and upwards!
Breakfast is back to the egg muffins, with lots of veggies, i put way more in than I usually do because I forgot I was making half a batch.
Lunch is a big salad: romaine, green leaf, cabbage, cucumbers, peppers, bok choy, kohlrabi, hareki turnip, radishes, celery, carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli how can people think salads are boring :D
Dinner last night was pork chops and sauteed collards with escarole, bok choy and kohlrabi, probably had more calcium in that than you would in a glass of milk :)
Tonight we had zucchini LASAGNA, yeah I said it. LASAGNA! Replace the noodles with thinly sliced zucchini, or yellow squash would probably work, or eggplant and proceed as you normally would, adjust your cooking time according to how your vegetables soften up.
So to wrap it up, keep track of what your body tells you, the color and smell of your pee and the frequency of bowel movements can tell you a lot, don't forget the poop police chart :D
Be happy, don't sweat the small stuff, create your food don't unbox it, create love in the kitchen dont your loved
