Saturday- June 29th.
All ABOARD!!!!
Cram on the ship with all the masses of people.
Avoid the buffet due to a tip from a co-worker and head to Central Park for roast beef.
Wow! It is beautiful! Trees, flowers open to the sky (off course that means you get wet when it rains).
Head to the cafe and have a mix your own salad and get the roast beef without the roll, it was delicious as promised.
Water tasted fine and coffee and unsweetened iced tea available mist places.
Dinner? I can't remember we had so many wonderful things this trip and I did not write it down until tomorrow.
Sunday- 30th.
Breakfast ended up being at the buffet because the restaurant was closed when we finally rolled out of bed. Eggs, corned beef hash, bacon, fruit.
Had a salad using condiments: lettuce, seaweed, and something weird that I assume was a seaweedish plant.
Still not doing great digestive-wise and very tired.
Did not really need lunch since we ate breakfast so late. Went for a pre-dinner salad at the buffet so I could control the amount of fiber and piled on the lettuce and raw vegetables.
Lobster bisque soup, chilled banana and rum soup, YUM!
I forgot the name of the salad. It had peas, lima beans, green beans with greens and prosciutto and a bacon dressing.
Opted for the filet, which was extremely tender and delicious. So delicious that Kristin swapped my plate for her corvina fish with curry cauliflower.
Banana baileys creme brulee to wrap it up.
Monday – July 1st.
Ate at the restaurant, eggs benedict sans muffin, granola with yogurt and fruit to start the day off!
Had lunch at the restaurant too.
Seafood stew and barramundi with asparagus and zucchini.
After I went to the buffet for a nice big mixed greens and veggies.
Pre diner salad about 4 at park cafe with some nice veggies and a big hairball of Sprouts.
Dinner consisted of garlic soup, which wasn't garlicy :(
Shrimp and some eggplant Parmesan, as well as everyone's asparagus.
Tiramisu which is totally not on the nutritional plan, I figure even the non-wheat foods have some kind of wheat in their sauce and whatnot.
Plus I can feel the overuse of salt, causing some water retention.
Tuesday- 2nd
Still feeling bound up.
Today is a land/sea adventure so that may be a good thing, of course I won't end up being near a bathroom when it is needed :)
Eggs benedict with salmon instead of canadian bacon and granola w/yogurt and fruit again.
Salt water.... BLECH!
Snorkeling was amazing off the boat, especially turtle bay.
We have snorkeled before but always off shore and never to great results.
Salt water got the best of me and made me sick. The boat ride back to the pier did not help.
Salad for lunch to not upset the stomach.
They had a lot of curries, so I tried a few since I felt better after the salad.
Dinner was cerviche and carpaccio followed by pork oscar and strawberry pavlova.
Wednesday - 3rd.
Unimpressive breakfast at Johnny Rockets.
ham and cheese omelet with bacon.
Off to walk around the island.
A quick walk around has me wondering how such a small place can maintain countless jewelry stores.
Returned to the ship for lunch.
Another huge salad with vegetables and chia seeds. Finally remembered to bring them!
Dinner was a disgustingly dried out cod loin which just sealed the meal for me.
Thursday- 4th
Happy Birthday!
Ship all dolled up in red white and blue.
Tried the wipeout cafe since it had customized omelets.
yeah, customizable with 4 ingredients.
Definitely not impressed, not much to put chia seeds on, but the omelet got a shake.
Lunch at the windjammer fir a big salad with chia.
Dinner was seafood night.
Poblano pepper soup, duck terrine, lobster and shrimp for a main course and baked alaska, which ended up being a bowl of ice cream with a torched meringue on top.
Friday - 5th
Last day :(
Breakfast at windjammer so I could have corned beef hash and poached eggs, slathered in chia seeds.
Lunch in the dining room, Mexican salad with avocado. Mushroom soup.
Seared scallops and cauliflower puree started dinner.
Fried fish and shrimp and strawberry souflee to end the night.
Saturday - 6th
Early breakfast and back to land food.
Some eggs and granola with yogurt.
Found out late the granola has wheat in it, nice touch :P
I do believe I gained weight just from the quantity of food I ate, but it was vacation and I will take it back off.
Do I believed trying to stay paleo helped? Yes.
I think I would actually have done better if I ate at the buffet more often, because the availability of salad.
I think I really killed myself in Ft. Lauderdale.
All that processed foods and no fiber.
I managed to fix the fiber thing on the ship, but the food was mainly still processed.
Did I recover on the ship? Close, I started feeling better and had more energy after being on for a few days, but still had trouble with regularity.
The chia seeds were important and I will not underestimate the power of the seed mix and regularity.
I look forward to returning to my meal plan and regaining regularity and feeling good again.
We will still be in Florida for a while, but have a kitchen so there will be some fresh vegetable action.
