Processed food. It's everywhere. Most of the grocery store is comprised of it. There are fast food restaurants on practically every corner. So it leads one to just relent and eat it because it's there. Because it is what we have always eaten Because it's convenient.
So when Brad and I try to explain our healthy eating habits to others, they scoff and immediately blow it off saying they could never do it. Well, Brad and I are here to tell you it is it possible! It is achievable! YOU just need to take that first step. YOU have to want to feel better, live longer, have more energy. I am inspired that our 14 year old is following us and our 12 year old tells her friends that potatoes are bad for you. If we can change our eating habits for the better than maybe the next generation will have a chance at long healthy lives!
I heard once a long time ago that you should only buy food on the outer perimeter of the grocery store. I thought, yeah right! No way can I do that. But I CAN! And so can YOU! If you just try for 2 weeks, you'll see the difference in how you feel. I primarily shop on the outskirts of the grocery store with exception to canned sauce, seasonings, a few staples like sugar. We used to have a large pantry FULL of processed JUNK. I reduced that to one small cupboard. Instead, our fridge is overflowing with fresh veges, fruits, eggs, milk and meats.
STOP shopping in the middle of the supermarket and embrace what the outskirts have to offer. And support local business by shopping at the local farmers markets. We have a fantastic one in Baldwinsville. We can we get fresh eggs, organic meat, fresh fruits and veges, plus other items like candles, soap, jerky, pickles, crafts.
So how about those fast food restaurants??? I'll make that the subject of my next blog topic. But here's a spoiler...for the most part they serve wheat laden food which is highly processed and filled with lots of chemicals. Surprised? No, I didn't think so! Until next time...
