Back to exercise. Along came my princess Serafina last December and with it came a regular walking regimen. Who knew my exercise savior would come in the form of a big, fluffy, 85 lb, Great Pyrenees! Now I usually get out to walk her at least once a day (I share this task with the hubby). Our walks usually take about 30 minutes unless it is thundering and then it's a quick potty stop and then bolt for the safety of the house! I had heard from many people over the years that walking is very beneficial but doing it oj a regular basis was my downfall. Now I have no choice which is a good thing!
So if you are keeping track, I have lost 26 lbs so far since March and haven't killed my self with exercise. Just eating the right foods and a quick daily walk have done the trick. I was happy to learn that all the exercise that Dr.Thompson recommends is walking at a pace like you are going to an appointment. Walking is easy to do and costs $0! No gym membership, no home equipment, just me and my dog!
I'll give a quick shout out to those reading this that are avid runners. My motto is I only run if something is chasing me! But I do know that those that run, love it and feel good doing it. So if you want to run instead of walk, go for it!
So you see, you don't have to kill yourself with exercise. Just a simple walk will do. And who knows... if your motivation is a pooch like Serafina, maybe your best friend is waiting for you to adopt them at your local shelter or through a rescue. Save a life and yours too!
